crashie.com prank doesn't just crash IE...

As a curiosity experiment, I decided to see what crashie.com would do to Firefox if I set its UserAgent string to mimic IE. And low and behold, it crashes Firefox too. Instructions to change UserAgent string in Firefox:

UserAgent strings:

I tried "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; MSIE 9.0; WIndows NT 9.0; en-US))" in Firefox 4, and then went to crashie.com. Results in Firefox hanging hard, and I had to kill it via task manager on my Win7 64bit machine. In fact, the behavior in Firefox upon reopening it seemed worse than IE because Firefox by default tried to recover the tabs I had open, including the tab that had crashie.com open. I had to open Firefox in private browsing mode to get back to the about:config section to reset the browser string. :)

Another test. If you have IE9, hit F12. Under Tools, click "Change user agent string", and choose something other than IE. Load up crashie.com and see that it works fine. Malicious web dev at work here. :P

Don't believe everything you read on the web folks! :)
